On jouluaatto, ja kaikki odottavat kuumeisesti lahjojaan. Joissain maissa lahjat on jo jaettu, ja joissain maissa lahjat saadaan vasta joulupäivän aamuna. Joulukuusi on yksi monien joulua juhlivien perinne. Tässä joulun hengessä kuvia joulukuusesta ja lahjoista kuusen alla.

It is Christmas Eve, and everyone are anxiously waiting for their presents. In some countries, the gifts have already been given, and in some countries they will be received on the Christmas Day morning. The Christmas Tree is one of the traditions of many who celebrate Christmas. Here are some pictures of a Christmas Tree, and of some presents under it.

Melkein jouluaatto, tontutkin ovat jo liikkeellä. Nyt täytyy kuitenkin muistuttaa, että nämä tontut ovat tonttuja vain pohjoismaissa, ja muualla ne ovat kääpiöitä ja maahisia. Tältä tontut kuitenkin oikeasti näyttävät.

It is almost Christmas Eve, and christmas gnomes are all on and about. I must remind the readers however, that these gnomes ("tonttu"/"tomte" in nordic countries) are what christmas "elves" actually look like.

Kuvajoulukalenteri – Photo Advent Calendar (22/24)

Ne pihlajanmarjat, jotka aiemmin (7. päivänä) mainitsin, kelpaavat nyt kovemmilla pakkasilla linnuille syötäväksi. Tässä näemme mustarastaan nauttivan jouluista marja-ateriaansa.

Those rowan berries I mentioned earlier (on 7th), will now do for birds to eat on these colder days. Here we can see a blackbird enjoying christmasy seasonal berries for his dinner.

Itsekin pidän pakastetuista marjoista. Joka-aamuiseen aamiaiseeni kuuluvat pakastemustikat puuron tai myslin lisukkeena.

I like frozen berries too. I add frozen bilberries in my porridge or müsli breakfast every morning.

Maisemat eivät ehkä vastaa kuvaa juuri tällä hetkellä, mutta ainakin meillä oli kylmää vielä viime viikolla. Toivottavasti pian pakastaa ja sataa lunta, että Joulupukki lahjoineen pääsee perille.

The scenery today perhaps doesn’t match the posted photo, but at least we had a cold spout for a while last week. Let’s hope it’ll freeze soon, with some snowfall, so that Santa can arrive with presents.

Talvella linnut saattavat käydä ruokailemassa jyviä pihapiirissä. Niiden joukossa voit joskus nähdä vaikkapa punatulkun.

In the Winter, birds may come eat grains in the yard. Among them you can sometimes see the Eurasian bullfinch.

Linnunlaulun lisäksi myös joululauluja kuulee nyt jo päivittäin.

In addition to the birdsong, you can already hear daily Christmas music.

Kohtaamme toisemme uuden kuvan kera jälleen huomenna, kun kuudestoista luukku aukeaa! Hyvää joulun odotusta!

Joulupukki on parhaillaan ruokkimassa porojaan ja valmistautumassa tulevaa matkaansa varten.

Santa is now feeding all his reindeer, and preparing for his coming trip.

On kymmenes päivä. // It’s now the tenth day.

Tänä aamuna suuri parvi räkättirastaita lensi keittiönikkunamme ohitse läheisiin pihlajiin syömään marjoja. Sain kuvattua yhden niistä lähikoivun latvasta.

This morning, a large flock of fieldfares flow by our kitchen window, into the nearby rowan trees to eat berries. I managed to shoot one of them on top of a nearby birch.

Joulu lähestyy. Pitää alkaa kiirettä jouluvalmisteluiden kanssa. Nähdään taas huomenna uuden kuvan kera!
